Ending the Old, Starting the New

I didn't realize how much change the new year would bring! At the very tail end of 2016, I got a job at Simplex-IT. They are a Managed Service Provider that focuses on serving small to medium sized businesses in the Northeast Ohio area. And they are a small business themselves. It wasn't in my field, but it was work I was willing to do - and besides, I needed a job desperately!!

While I started there, I was still looking for that first real job out of college - something that would use that degree I spent so much money to get. So I kept applying, kept talking to recruiters and checking all my emails for leads.

Well, one of the leads turned up good! I ended up with a job offer from Joann Fabric and Craft Stores only two weeks ago. The position was right down the road from my house, and had the word "Developer" in the title and everything. I had two phone interviews and an in-person interview before I finally got the offer, and I was so so glad to accept.

I start on Monday.

It will be sad for me to leave Simplex - they're a very tight-knit group, and I fell right into place (or at least I felt like I did) - and they're all very nice people, or at the very least, the kind of people that I like to be around. And I'm moving to Joann, which is a much larger store and much larger... everything. I won't know anyone, and I'll have to learn a completely different culture. I'm some mix of nervous and excited.

To be honest, I'm not sure how much more help I would've been at Simplex. I accomplished the task that they hired me for, so maybe this is just the universe telling me that it's okay to move on. Thinking things like that makes it a little easier to leave, but I'll still miss it.

So if anyone out there is worried about not finding a job, I found TWO in the span of a few months. It can happen any time, when you least expect it. Keep your hopes up and keep looking!
